Colour in the Caste system


Lighter skin is considered superior, whereas dark-skinned is rendered as disability, ugly, and inferior. Skin colour in thus many ways is a marker of social status, inferiority intrinsic to dark skin colour, and superiority associated with whiteness/lighter skin shades.
