Juanan Requena is a creator, photographer and craftier based in Spain.
"I started because of a book and a place. I went on a road trip to the desserts, searching for a secret place a friend spoke of. Searching for it, I found a book full of photos and poems in an ordinary supermarket. I bought the one that was used and in the poorest condition.You can´t imagine how my life since then has changed. The book and its words made me travel. They really resonated within me. I wanted to provoke the same reaction in others. I wanted to make people travel, in so many senses. "
Requena's work evokes a sense of memory and belonging. His handmade books and photographs taken in Film work well together to create an individual perception of his works. The designs he opts for his books enrich the flow of thoughts and creativity. Having a particular interest in making handmade journals, I found Requena's very motivating. His technique of playing with the words and images attracted me the most. I will be creating handmade journals and photo books for this project, by taking inspiration from Juanan Requena's work.
