Sudharak Olwe

Sudharak Olwe is a Mumbai based documentary photographer who focuses on marginalised communities in India. He uses photography to explore and communicate the reality of these communities to a broader audience. Olwe’s ultimate aim is to get people to notice what’s happening around them: “Change is dead slow; it’s not an easy task. The first step is to acknowledge the problem…it will automatically lead to change.” Olwe is one of few photographers who speak up and work around these communities without exploiting their hardship.

“It is a very thin line, in this process (photojournalism). You can cross it and be so ruthless. It is a very thin line between your work and humanity,”

Let us return, reaping the gifts of equality. This, my dear, is beloved Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s message… Through this, may the world attain prosperity. – Kisan Olwe
