Museum of Goa (MOG) celebrates Goa’s history and people through contemporary art. MOG is envisioned not just as a repository of objects, but as a laboratory of ideas where all forms of art are in constant dialogue with each other.
The Museum, founded by Goan artist, Subodh Kerkar, in 2015, seeks to bring art and local history to larger audiences in an attempt to bridge the cultural gap in the country. Apart from taking contemporary art to the larger public, we are also a pedagogical experiment in narrating history.
MOG translates to ‘love’ in Konkani, and we believe that love and empathy are the tools with which to build the future.
Histories of Goa, a permanent exhibition at the Museum, offers a glimpse into the multiple histories of the state, highlighting lesser-known stories of its storied past. The exhibition showcases contemporary artists from Goa, as well as artwork inspired by the state. Our gallery is always on the lookout for exciting and new creators to contribute to this dynamic collection. MOG, also hosts temporary exhibitions all year round, showcasing the best talents from Goa and around the world. Exhibitions at MOG are disparate in their medium and diverse in their messages.
